Manchester United suffered a humiliating defeat by the hands of their arch-rivals Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday. Liverpool thrashed Manchester United 5-0 at the Old Trafford.

Manchester United’s performance was nothing short of lacklustre and absolute shambles. More importantly, Liverpool were relentless. In other words, they made United pay for every mistake at the back. Mohamed Salah scored two goals in the first half and then later added a third in the second half to complete a brilliant hat-trick and he becomes the first player in the Premier League to score a hattrick at Old Trafford. Above all, Salah has now scored in 10 straight games in all competition.

In addition to Salah’s goals, Diego Jota and Naby Keita scored one goal each. Cristiano Ronaldo did pull one goal back but that was later ruled out for offside. Paul Pogba was brought on at halftime but was sent off in the 60th minute after a high foot tackle on Naby Keita.

Liverpool are now second in the Premier League however only one point behind league leaders Chelsea. While Manchester United are now winless in three Premier League matches. In addition, United have lost their last two Premier League games. United also drop down to 7th in the league with only 14 points to their name.
