Manchester United, Arsenal and others must wait as Leverkusen teenage sensation Florian Wirtz plans to stay in Germany.
The talented 18-year-old playmaker has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in European football.
He is on the shortlist of a number of big names across Europe. Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund, among others, are closely monitoring his progress. However, Wirtz’s father claims that the teenager will not be leaving Germany, at least until 2023.
Florian Wirtz – An Exciting Prospect for Manchester United
The creative midfielder turned 18 in May. He has established himself as an essential part of Gerardo Seoane’s starting lineup.
Agent to Florian, Hans-Joachim Wirtz spoke to Bild about the interest that has built up around the youngster: “Florian definitely wants to play a good role in Leverkusen for the next two years“.
“What comes next is not yet known. His focus now is only on Bayer and the national team“.
The youngster’s stunning form has put several top clubs on high alert. Suitors include Premier League duo Manchester United and Arsenal, alongside Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
Wirtz recorded an impressive 16 goals in 38 games in all competitions for Leverkusen last season. He has started the new campaign brightly, netting 5 times and assisting a further 4 in 6 matches for the German side.
Wirtz recently made his debut for Germany. The youngster came off the bench in a 2-0 victory over Liechtenstein on September 2.
Wirtz has been compared to fellow Bayer Leverkusen academy graduate Kai Havertz. The German midfielder is now a £71,000,000 Champions League winner in the books at Chelsea.
