Rohit Sharma’s departure from Ind vs. Pak’s first game of the Asia Cup created a scenario of a questionable top-order. However, the Indian captain bounced back in the second game against Nepal. He and his opening partner, Shubman Gill, smashed half-centuries to win the game against Nepal by a big margin.

The Indian remarkable opener showed off his quality batting style against Pakistan in the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup. Rohit and Shubman’s duo provided an excellent start to the innings. In addition, Rohit Sharma scored 56 off just 49 balls. His score includes ten boundaries, six fours, and four maximums. Moreover, the Indian skipper became the first batsman to smash a six to Shaheen Afridi’s delivery in the very first over.

Reacting to Rohit Sharma’s innings, former cricket of India, Sanjay Manjrekar applauded the player. Manjrekar said that the 36-year-old cricketer’s defense has gotten better. Moreover, Manjrekar said that Rohit Sharma’s improvement in his defense is due to playing regular Test cricket.

Sanjay Manjrekar while speaking to Star Sports stated

“He got 5 hundred in the last World Cup, right? My assessment of Rohit Sharma is that his defense has actually gotten much better. He is a much better Test player now than he was in 2019. So I have no issues. It’s about converting those starts into big hundreds because that involves running a lot of ones and twos later on in the innings. But, on the pure quality of defense, Rohit is better today. That natural ability to hit the big shots is still there”
