Maresca set to replace Pochettino as new Chelsea boss

Chelsea are now reported to be take the decision about their new manager soon. The reports are heavily in the favour of Italian manager who just had a great season. Enzo Maresca who was linked with Chelsea heavily is now reported to replace Mauricio Pochettino soon. It was reported for some weeks now that Chelsea and Maresca are involved in talks. The rumours have now rose to next level as the talks are now reported be have advanced between the two parties involved.

Chelsea parted ways with Pochettino only a year after signing him. The decision was said to be have based on mutual understanding between the manager and the club. The Argentine too before this announcement told the press that its not always club but also the manager when its comes to taking decisions like this. The Blues were already looking for potential replacement of Pochettino way before his exit. Amongst the various names linked with a move to London, Maresca’s name has now stood tall above everyone else.

How was Maresca’s season with Leicester

Enzo Maresca who signed as Leicester manager has done a great job in his first season as manager of English team. He gained promotion to Premier League with Leicester. Not only promotion but the foxes managed to be the table toppers of Championship. The Leicester fans were filled with joy to see their team back in premier league next season. They were hoping that Maresca will continue his magic and lead Leicester to another good season. However their joy now seems to be short lived. Maresca now is looking forward to take charge of Stamford bridge next season.

Before managing Leicester the Italian manager had his spells under Pep Guardiola as his assistant. Learning from one of the greatest coaches, the 44 year old manager seems to have a very bright future as a manager. In Championship he showed the demo of what he is capable of by leading the foxes to the title. Leicester won 31 and drew 4 out of their 46 matches. They managed to secure 97 points and won the title by 1 point over Ipswich town.

Maresca set to replace Pochettino

Maresca’s very good season with Leicester caught eyes of Chelsea board. Over the past week his name has been heavily linked with the blues. According to recent reports he could soon be unveiled as new Chelsea boss. The fans are not too excited by this decesion. However they have to accept the Italian manager as their new boss in upcoming days.

Chelsea have now asked Leicester to hold talks with Maresca. Leicester have contract signed with Maresca until 2027. If the blues want to sign Maresca, they would have to pay somewhere around £10 million to foxes according to TBR football. The Chelsea board think Maresca will be perfect fit to replace Pochettino based on the talks they had with him earlier. If the deal happens, the Italian manager will be soon seen to shift his focus from King Power Stadium to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s potential manager hunt

The Blues were linked with some of the best current managers in europe. The one name which was looking very certain was Ruben Amorim. Amorim after conquering portugese league with Sporting was reported to have talked with Chelsea. However Sporting was not happy with his decesion to visit England in between of the season. However due to not having experience in top league and also due to financial reasons the deal between Chelsea and Amorim seems to have settled down.

The blues were also linked with Kieran McKenna. McKenna gave a tough fight to Leicester with Ipswich town and lost the title by only 1 point. However McKenna opted out to become the new Chelsea boss. Current options available for Chelsea are former Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi and Brentford’s manager Thomas Frank.
