Martin Keown says that Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is playing Conor Gallagher on his best position. Keown was in praise of Pochettino for this decision. Moreover, the 23-year old has started every Premier League game this season. He even wore the captain’s armband on a few occasions. Pochettino is playing him in no.10 position regularly in recent games. Furthermore, he is making a great midfield balance with Enzo Fernandez and Caicedo as double pivot. Owing to his position, Gallagher has created three assists in last four games.

Keown praises Pochettino for his Gallagher experiment

Martin Keown was speaking to The Daily Mail. He said,

Conor Gallagher is playing in his rightful position at No 10 – precisely where he flourished on loan at Crystal Palace – particularly as Pochettino likes to play a very high pressing game.

Gallagher relentlessly runs from midfield to join the front three of Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson and Raheem Sterling in closing down opposition defenders. He does that so well that nobody in the Premier League has regained possession in the final third more than him this season.”

Chelsea’s academy graduate is now looking more settled in the squad than the previous season. Certainly, Pochettino is having a constructive impact on him as well as the squad. The Argentine is realising the favourable roles of each player. In a data from Sky Sports, Gallagher covered 122.43km distance this season so far. He ranks sixth across the Premier League for most distance covered. Moreover, the fans are loving him for his position and pressing when off the ball. He has finally getting the appreciation for his hardwork.

Chelsea stand tenth in league following their 4-4 draw with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. Though, it was a game criticised for some refereeing decisions against the Blues. Nevertheless, Pochettino will have many positives from this clash. His side was much disciplined against the league leaders if one neglects some moments. It was a complete thriller and the football fans would have loved the game between two giants of England.
