With an uncertain scenario preventing the pensioners from signing new players, Chelsea had already made one summer deal before the fines were imposed.
18-year Chelsea loanee to Charlton Athletic, Mason Burstow has emerged as Chelsea’s first signing of this summer.
Charlton Owner Thomas Sandgaard on the departure of Burstow said:
“We’ve had a lot of interest in Mason but we only were going to let him go if it was an excellent deal for the club.
Chelsea has matched our valuation and, as part of the deal, he will come back to us on loan which was important for us.”

He has taken to Instagram to send a message to the club’s supporters ahead of his move to Chelsea.

Burstow and his time at Charlton

Burstow signed for Chelsea in winter transfer after a head-turning start to the season. Since his signing for Chelsea, his form has fallen off as he started games very often from the bench.
Burstow on Instagram shared a message with the club’s supporters ahead of his move to Chelsea.

The squad will be bolstered by more signings once the new owners take over, but Burstow’s time at Charlton Athletic has come to the end.
He played his last game for Charlton last month against Morecambe.
Despite assisting a goal, Burstow’s team was defeated 3-2 by Morecambe.
Teenager’s contract with Charlton will officially expire on May 31st, and he will join Tuchel’s squad for the 2022/23 season.
