Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino confirms the debut of his £14m signing against Sheffield United. Pochettino says that Djordje Petrovic is ready to feature against Sheffield on Saturday. He has made the claim in a pre-match press conference. Despite joining the Blues in summer, Petrovic was a second-choice to Robert Sanchez. However, an injury sustained by the Spanish international is paving way for him to debut. This will mark an end to the consecutive starts of the ex-Brighton keeper so far this season.

Sanchez was looking uncomfortable against Man United as well. Though, he played a full 90-min against them. But against Everton, he was subbed on to be replaced by the 24-year old keeper who also conceded a goal in the meantime. Now, Chelsea are set to make their £14m summer move have a start to his life at Stamford Bridge. The manager said,

“I think always when you suffer an injury and he was our No.1 goalkeeper so far, always a player we will miss. We have another goalkeeper who is working hard to be ready.

Of course. I have faith in all of my players. He arrived at Chelsea because we believed he had great potential. Now after four or five months working with us is the moment for him to step up and feel good because we have the trust in him. Now is to make the debut in Stamford Bridge, yes we trust that he can perform in the way we want.”

The 24-year old man will hope to capitalize on the opportunity with both hands and win the trust of Pochettino. It is a great chance for him to prove himself as the perfect back-up while Sanchez is expected to be missing the field for few weeks.
