Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says £52m player can make a return against Everton. Pochettino and his men will lock horns with Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday. Prior to the game, Pochettino’s hint for a return of Christopher Nkunku will be a huge boost for the Blues. Although he claims that there is a possibility for a return, he personally has a doubt on this. The Frenchman is yet to make a Premier League appearance since his £52m move from Germany in the summer.

He featured for Chelsea in the pre-season matches in United States but picked up an injury in the last game there. Even his return in the training is a major booster for the fans at Stamford Bridge who were feeling a void in team so far. This was especially in the attacking department as Chelsea looked deprived of creativity in front of goal against Manchester United. Mauricio Pochettino’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat mid-week at Old Trafford courtesy to a brace from Scott McTominay.

Now, Pochettino also looks to involve Nkunku against Everton who will be eyeing on a return after injury. He has said that there might be chance for him to be involved in some capacity at Merseyside.

“Still assessing day by day, see tomorrow. I don’t believe that he will be involved but we need to assess day by day. We see also Malo Gusto but apart from that no.”

Apart from this, Romeo Lavia is also back in training after a long injury. He will also be eager to make an impact after his big money move from Southampton this summer. Moreover, Chelsea’s midfield is also looking to have some tired legs on the field. Lavia’s return will surely push Enzo Fernandez and Caicedo to play a higher role on the field to make some damage.
