Pundit Paul Merson claims Dutchman Eric Ten Hag have lost faith of Manchester United dressing room after heavy home defeat against Newcastle United.

The Magpies won their Carabao Cup tie 3:0 against Manchester United on the Wednesday night. Ten Hag saw his defense fall apart at Old Trafford.

Miguel Almiron and Lewis Hall gave Newcastle lead in the first-half against United. Joe Willock sealed the game in the second-half for a comprehensive victory.

United are currently struggling as this result was followed by United’s 3:0 defeat against Manchester City on Sunday. Ten Hag is currently under lot of pressure as he might be fired.

Speaking on SkySports, Merson insists on the face that Ten Hag have lost his dressing room’s faith. The former Arsenal man claims that the Dutchman is under lot of pressure due to his poor run in this campaign.

Merson also criticised Ten Hag for Sancho’s exile

Paul Merson also criticised Ten Hag for continuing Jadon Sancho’s exile in this campaign. While discussing the matter, he said :-

“I don’t see how much further this goes on, I really don’t, I read in the paper it could cost £15m.

“It just cost them £80m in Sancho, they chased a kid for how long and he says one thing and is completely out and will probably be out on loan in January and they’ll probably be paying half his wages.

“This needs to get sort out but personally I think it is toxic. I don’t take too much notice of behind the scenes, but it is toxic on the pitch and that is where it counts.

“At the moment they are all over the place and if it wasn’t for a last minute penalty save against Copenhagen. They would have drawn at home to Copenhagen, let’s get serious here.

“He is under serious pressure and they have to have a meeting and see what they are going to do. There are ways of losing football matches and, for me, he has lost the players.

“You do not started getting beaten the way they are getting beaten. There are ways of losing and this is not good in my opinion.”
