Miandad warns Pakistan ahead of the T20 World Cup

Javed Miandad was straightforward in his recent interview for Sports PakTv. While talking about the middle order he said,

“Aap khel rahe ho Pakistan ke liye. Ye meri apni ghar ki team nahi hai. (You are playing for Pakistan. This is not my personal team. We have such a big population, and there’s a lot of competition). There is competition. The boys should realize that they have to perform in every match. If they don’t perform, the team will never progress”.

Middle Order woes

The Pakistan team is heavily reliant on their openers. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are the only shining stars. They do the bulk of the scoring. Other batsmen have failed to perform. Pakistan is able to put a good total on the board only if the openers play well. Miandad warned the Pakistan middle order to step up with some crucial knocks otherwise they should try new players. Pakistan has tried many middle-order options like Khushdil, Iftikhar, Harris, and Haider Ali. But neither of them has been able to stamp their authority in the middle order.
Pakistan is playing a 7-match T20 Series against England. The series is levels 3-3. In the series decider, the middle order needs to step up to help Pakistan win the series. Pakistan needs to fine-tune their batting order before the mega event in Australia.
