Former English defender Micah Richards praises Chelsea fullback Malo Gusto. Chelsea signed Malo from the French side Lyon. The 20 year old is currently the first choice at Stamford Bridge in the absence of James. Richards believes that he has the potential to become one of the best player in the club. His attacking ability provided the opening goal against Crystal Palace. Moreover, his defence abilities were equally impressive during the game. He is proving himself in the absence of club captain Reece James.
“I’ll tell you who was outstanding, Gusto the full-back. When he came in to the team 10 games ago and then got injured and Reece James came back in to the team and he was trying to play them both, and he was playing on the right a little bit. But he can defend and attack.
He has got so much energy, he did so well for the first goal with the assist for the first goal. I just love him, he’s a modern day full back but he’s an old school one because he can defend as well.
There were so many times Jordan Ayew would face him one vs one and he didn’t dive in, he waited, had patience and made the tackle at the last minute. I think he is going to be outstanding. He has got a bright future, he seriously has.”
The fans of the Blues will hope their defender to continue his form. If he continue to play like this, he can surely replace James. The club captain is out owing to his surgery and will miss the field for few weeks. Malo should capitalise on the opportunity and establish himself as the first choice for the right back position.
