Micah Richards shares Man City concerns recently

Manchester City

The former City player and now a pundit, Richards has highlighted some worrying concerns about Man City. He believes something is missing in Manchester City’s recent performances. The Premier League giant secured another European title in their name. They beat Sevilla on penalties in the Super Cup final in Athens on Wednesday.

Following this latest victory, Micah Richards has shared an insight into how Pep Guardiola’s side has performed this season.

Richards highlights worrying Man City issues:

In the recent episode of The Rest Is Football, speaking alongside Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer, Richards had this to say about City. He said, “Watching Man City now, they’re obviously a great team but Kevin De Bruyne gets a big injury, [Ilkay] Gundogan’s left and it seems to me like they’re not in the groove.”

“It’s early stages, Man City always takes a little bit of time to get going. They have all that possession but it just feels to me like something is missing at this moment in time.”

“[Erling] Haaland was making so many runs in this game against Sevilla, Sevilla was a very good team, very compact in how they defend, but there seems like there’s a link between the midfield and the attack that’s missing.”

He also looked a little bit concerned about Man City’s approach in the Premier League with Pep Guardiola’s absence at the touchline. Guardiola will go through surgery on a back issue. He is expected to be out of action until after the international break.

He said, “I think the players will have a little more freedom. I think the difference between having Pep there and not is potentially winning and losing in the big games. You know when you need a little tactical tweaks and he’s basically just saying ‘No, going too far,’ or ‘Push up,’ so I think in the big games, no disrespect to the Premier League. I think they can cope without Pep. If they were playing Real Madrid or Barcelona tomorrow I think they will miss him.”
