Arsenal have been linked with Robert Lewandowski once again following his collapse in contract talks with Bayern Munich. The Gunners are facing issues in finding the right striker for the club. They currently have Lacazette and Nketiah and both of them have contracts expiring at the end of the season. Whereas Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang left the club to join Barcelona in January.

Arsenal are the favorites to finish fourth in the league and will be playing in the Champions League next season. Not only UCL but they will also challenge for other trophies like the FA Cup and the League Cup. However, they cannot achieve this with no striker in their squad or not a good enough striker in their squad.

Robert Lewandowksi and Bayern Munich recently disagreed with a new contract which makes Lewandowksi available for the other clubs. Arsenal wanted to sign him when the Polish international left Borussia Dortmund but later joined the Bavarians. However, the Gunners are presented with another opportunity to sign the veteran goalscorer in the summer, according to FourFourTwo.

Lewandowski is probably the best striker in the world, scoring goals in each and every style. He has broken countless records in the past few years. Many believe that Lewandowski should have won the Ballon d’Or but was only second to the legend of the sport Lionel Messi. However, Lewandowski could leave Germany after a long spell and many clubs consequently will make an attempt to sign him.

Why does Arsenal need Robert Lewandowski?

Robert Lewandowksi scored 41 goals in 29 appearances in the Bundesliga breaking a 49-year-old record held by Gerd Muller. Subsequently, he was the top scorer in Europe which states how much he likes scoring goals. It does not get better at goal scoring than having Lewandowksi in your side. He not only scores goals but also creates spaces and chances for his teammates.

This is what Arteta had to say about improving Arsenal’s goalscoring record,

“To be with the top teams in this you need to score 90 to 100 goals at least. Somehow you need those goals in the team. Don’t ask me how, but you need them. They have to come.”

Arteta also suggested that age will not be an issue while signing a player in that position. This is because many still doubt how Lewandowski can succeed at another club despite being 34. However, the Polish striker does not look like slowing down and wants to score even more.

Arsenal will have to be very sneaky and quick with their negotiations and talks if they want to sign Lewandowski. However, if they secure the Champions League spot, their job might get easier to attract players. Although Lewandowski would be on high wages at Arsenal, it is a risk that any club would be willing to pay to secure the services of such a world-class player.
