Mikel Arteta could potentially face a ‘big tension’ from his star man

A tense situation could be possibly be arising for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta. In a crucial season ahead, the Gunners wouldn’t want any problems within the squad and with their players. However, a situation like this could arise, in case Arteta decides to drop a key player from their starting 11.

Arteta could face huge disappointment from Aaron Ramsdale

According to Express UK, Aaron Ramsdale can become a source of stress for Arteta, in case the manager decides to drop him in the Champions League matches. It is reported that Ramsdale has told the manager about his ambitions of playing in the UCL. He wants to be Arsenal’s first choice GK, especially in big games like the Champions League matches. Reportedly, Ramsdale would get furious in case Arteta decides to drop him in the UCL matches.

The fear of rotation for Ramsdale comes after Arsenal signed David Raya from Brentford FC. Raya is signed as the replacement for Matt Turner, who joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan. Even though Raya is signed as back-up GK, he is one of the most talented goalkeepers in the league.

The former Brentford no.1 is amongst the top performing goalkeepers in the Premier League. His stats were outstanding last season. In comparison with Ramsdale, Raya conceded just 3 more goals and kept just 2 less clean sheets, despite Brentford having a much weaker defence than Arsenal. However, in terms of saves, Raya stood out completely. Not just against Ramsdale, but every GK in the Premier League. He made a staggering 154 saves last season, with an average of 4.1 saves per match.

Raya’s abilities makes him a strong contender for Arsenal’s number 1 GK spot. Even though Ramsdale clearly looks like Arteta’s first choice GK, we never know how the future will pan out.
