Mikel Arteta reacts to the calls for a new striker by Arsenal fans

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta responds to the calls from the fans to get a new striker. The fans, alongwith Piers Morgan urges Mikel to bring in a new forward. It came after Gunners lost 0-2 against Liverpool at their home. They were very dominant during the first half but without final product. Moreover, they also slipped down to fourth in the table after consecutive losses. The goal scoring is now a severely lacking in the brigade of Arteta. On a goalscoring front, Arsenal have only managed to net 37 times in 20 Premier League outings so far.

This lack of goal has costed them the league title previously as well. Now, Arteta has responded to these chants of getting a new centre forward by saying that it looks unrealistic to get a new man. The Spanish believes that the club should work on their present resources and rely on them. Though, names like Victor Osimhen and Ivan Toney were linked with a transfer to Emirates in the past. The manager told beIN Sports that,

At the moment it doesn’t look realistic. My job is to improve our players and get better results with the players we have. One thing is what we need and another is what we can do. What we need to do now is stick behind those players, give them some love, train them, and make sure they visualise something very different to what is actually happening now. They’ve done it. We’re not going to reinvent the wheel, because they’ve done it. “

He has also pleaded the fans to trust their players as they deserve to be supported. Arsenal will be facing Crystal Palace on 20 January in the league and then Nottingham Forest away. If they are to win any silverware this season, they should sort out their problems of a goal scorer as soon as possible.
