Millwall vs West Brom: Preview, team news and predicted line-ups

West Brom will be looking to get back to winning ways as they travel to The Den to take on Millwall in the Championship. They played out a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture back in September last year. Kyle Bartley’s opener was cancelled out by Daniel Ballard in the 55th minute.

There has been little to separate the two teams in their last 6 meetings. Both teams have won two games each and drawn two.

The home side have lost four consecutive games coming into this game. This includes their 3rd round FA Cup exit at the hands of Crystal Palace. They have also failed to score in their last two games.

Their recent losses mean they are now 15th on the table with 33 points, 13 off the relegation zone. Their last win came away at Coventry City on 30th December when Tom Bradshaw handed them a 0-1 win.

The Baggies also on the other hand have failed to meet expectations. Manager Valérien Ismaël is under some pressure as their performances remain inconsistent while teams around them are starting to gather some momentum.

They have won just one of their last six games in the Championship. Their recent loss at home to Preston North End was their first home loss of the season. They are drifting away from the automatic promotion places due to their inconsistent results.

West Brom currently sit 5th on the table with 45 points. They are 7 points behind Blackburn Rovers who occupy 2nd place on the table. The Baggies will be hoping to replicate their performance against Peterborough. On paper, they will certainly be the favourites to win this game.

Millwall vs West Brom: Team news

Millwall

The Lions will be without the services of Sheyi Ojo, Tom Bradshaw, Ryan Leonard and Daniel Ballard who are all sidelined due to injuries. While Jed Wallace, George Saville and Alex Pierce all remain doubtful.

Recent signing Oliver Burke might be handed his first start at the club by Gary Rowett.

Possible Millwall starting line-up

Bialkowski, Hutchinson, Cooper, M. Wallace, McNamara, Evans, Mitchell, Malone, Burke, Afobe, Bennett

West Brom

Daryl Dike will miss out for West Brom as his recent hamstring injury is set to keep him out for two months. Semi Ajayi is expected to return to the side after his national team was knocked out of the African Cup of Nations.

Robert Snodgrass, Dara O’Shea and Kean Bryan will also be sidelined due to injuries.

Possible West Brom starting line-up

Button, Ajayi, Bartley, Clarke, Furlong, Mowatt, Livermore, Townsend, Diangana, Grant, Robinson

Our Prediction

Millwall 1-1 West Brom

Both teams are struggling to find form right now. West Brom have the best defensive record in the league conceding just 22 goals but they have also failed to find the net as as as they would have liked. We believe the two teams will cancel each other out to replicate their result from the first leg.
