After the conclusion of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, India and Australia faced each other in a three-match ODI series, with the first match taking place on March 17. The home team won the toss and chose to bowl first. The Australian team struggled initially as Mohammed Siraj dismissed Travis Head early on. However, Mitchell Marsh stepped up for the visitors and played a brilliant inning of 81 runs off 65 balls.

The remaining batsmen could not contribute much, and the team managed to get only 188 runs. Aakash Chopra, a former Indian batsman, shared his views on Australia’s batting performance and stated that apart from Marsh, no other batsman was able to make a significant contribution, as wickets kept falling at regular intervals.

“David Warner and Alex Carey were not available for Australia, but the batting looked slightly 50-50. How will it work out if it happens on such pitches? Mitchell Marsh hit, he batted extremely well, but the wickets kept falling from the other end.”

Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

“Mitchell Marsh scored 81, and the entire team scored 188. When 188 runs are scored, you feel they are less, but when you see the pitch, you think there is some problem as the opposition team have scored only 188.”

he added.

Mitchell Starc bowled beautifully upfront

India faced a tough chase as Mitchell Starc did not allow the hosts to chase down the target easily. Early wickets of Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav added to the pressure on the Indian team.

India clinched a fantastic win, thanks to the impressive performances of KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja. Rahul, who had been struggling with his form recently, played an unbeaten knock of 75.
