Mohammed Kudus must accept Arteta’s scheme of plans to join Arsenal

Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus must accept Mikel Arteta’s scheme of plans if wants to join Arsenal in this transfer window.

Gunners are willing to sign the Ghanaian international as Arteta looks to bolster his options. However, Chelsea are also in race and will fight for his signature this summer.

In 2022, Kudus was close to completing a move to Everton on a season-long loan, which would have turned into a permanent one in the summer of 2023. However, the deal never happened due couple of reasons. One of the reason was Ajax’s were not willing let another senior player leave after selling Antony as well as Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United and Ryan Gravenberch to Bayern Munich. Another reason, Kudus explains that Everton were refusing to offer regular game-time. He said:-

“Everton offered me a great opportunity and I wanted to try it,” he recalled back in September when speaking to Dutch outlet NOS.

“No footballer wants to sit on the bench and neither do I. Although I understood that not everyone can play all the time, Everton seemed like a good option at the time. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to train, but I’m human and had a lot to deal with in a very short time. The chapter is now over and I’m still here.”

Now again Mohammed Kudus is close to joining another Premier League club this summer. But manager Mikel Arteta guarantees no player is a automatic starter in his squad. Players have to earn his spot in the starting line-up. He revealed this last summer :-

“We cannot guarantee first-team football to anybody.

“What we guarantee is that the ones we really see and think are going to take us to the next level, they’re going to be playing a lot of minutes.”
