Chennai Super Kings’ MS Dhoni has given massive praise to Ambati Rayudu for his contributions to the franchise.
CSK beat Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets on 29th May after rain played havoc and reduced the game to 15 overs.
Moreover, the 37-year-old contributed well with the bat just when CSK’s chances of winning the game were slipping away. He made 19 runs from 8 balls which were very useful in the end.
Meanwhile, in the post-match presentation, Dhoni praised his teammate for his exceptional batting skills but also took a funny dig at him.
Dhoni stated that while Rayudu is an excellent player, he will never allow the Chennai Super Kings to win the Fair Play Award in the IPL.
The special thing about Rayudu is he will always give his 100% when he is on the field. But with him in the team, I will never win the Fairplay Award.
Dhoni says Rayudu is always wanting to contribute and is a wonderful cricketer
On the other hand, Rayudu announced his retirement from the IPL after winning the 5th title with CSK. In the international arena, Rayudu got very limited chances to play and was majorly missing from all formats.
Dhoni has stated that Rayudu is a very rare species of batter who can play both pace and spin equally well.
He (Rayudu) always wants to contribute and he has been a fantastic cricketer. I’ve been playing with him for long time, since the India A tours. He’s a player who can play spin and pace equally well. It is something really special. I felt he would do something really special, I’m really happy for him.
Furthermore, Dhoni has also wished Rayudu well for the next phase of his life.
He’s also like me- not someone who uses the phone often. What’s important is that he has had a fantastic career and I hope he enjoys the next phase of his life.
