Newcastle keen to sign Arsenal keeper Bernd Leno after Henderson deal falls through

Newcastle is interested in signing Bernd Leno from Arsenal according to a report from 90min. Leno is looking to leave the Emirates this year. He has been a brilliant backup for Aaron Ramsdale this season. Nevertheless, he has failed to make a big enough impression on Arteta to warrant first-team football.

Goodbyes already said

Reports are claiming that the Arsenal keeper has already said his goodbyes around the Emirates. The German was a prime target for Fulham. But, now Newcastle has emerged as a potential candidate for the signature of the German.

The Magpies wanted to sign the 29-year-old during the summer transfer window. However, priority was given to other targets arriving at the club.

After failing to sign Henderson, it seems that the Entertainers are keen to sign Leno

Newcastle determined for Leno’s sign

Leno will be looking to move to a team where he is set to be the number one choice. Otherwise one would imagine he’d stay at Arsenal.

Newcastle is on the market to sign a new keeper in this window. And if Leno is provided with the assurance of match minutes, he would surely look to join the Magpies.

A good backup for Arsenal

Leno is an amazing goalkeeper. While Arsenal is willing to let him go, they would surely be happy to keep him as a cover for Ramsdale. But obviously, they’ll be aware that he’ll be looking for match minutes.

Leno has rarely let Arsenal down and can be a magnificent signing for Newcastle.

Leno joined the gunners in 2018 following a £19 million move from Bayer Leverkusen. Since then he has had some fantastic performances. Most notably, playing a crucial part in the 2-0 victory over Newcastle in his first-ever FA Cup match with the Gunners.
