Newcastle United are potentially interested in signing Marseille striker Bamba Dieng. The striker is on the transfer list by the French club.

The forward is on the radar of a number of Premier League sides this summer. However, the clubs are yet to put in a bid for the forward.

NEWCASTLE UNITED AND BAMBA DIENG TRANSFER LINKS FULL STORY

According to reports, Newcastle United are going to track the situation of Marseille forward Bamba Dieng. Dieng gets compared to Sadio Mane in his homeland. He is now the transfer target after the Magpies missed out on Hugo Ekitike. Marseille boss Igor Tudor has also deemed Dieng as a surplus requirement at the club.

The Ligue 1 are open to letting him leave the club. They reportedly value the forward at around £15m. Transfer expert Dean Jones has also backed the claim that Newcastle United are interested in signing Bamba. He said,” Yeah, I mean Dieng especially [alongside Benfica’s Gonçalo Ramos]. I think that Newcastle have got a close eye on this one.“It’s a market that they’ve been really hot on.”

THE MAGPIES ARE ALSO TARGETTING OTHER FORWARDS

The report also claims that Bamba Dieng is not the only striker that they are tracking. They are also tracking the likes of Aleksander Isak and Goncalo Ramos. However, Isak is too expensive for the owners. Real Sociedad values the forward at around £60m. Magpies reportedly hope the La Liga side reduces the demands in the last weeks of the transfer window.

Whereas for Goncalo Ramos, Benfica values the forward for around £40m. However, Newcastle United are reportedly ready to pay the fee for him. Although, the Portuguese giants will only sell him after the Champions League Playoffs. There are also suggestions that Benfica are looking to start a bidding war for the forward. Hence, the interest of Magpies have cooled down for now.

So, it is ideal that Newcastle United go for Bamba Dieng. The forward is a cheap alternative compared to other targets. He is also one of the talented young forwards in Europe. The Magpies can sign him for 15m and then can spend the remaining budget on a quality right-winger.
