Newcastle United could miss out on some of their bid stars against Arsenal as Eddie Howe gives updates on the injured players.

Manager Eddie Howe admitted he will be without some of his key players as the Magpies prepares to host Arsenal on Saturday. Newcastle has enjoyed a strong start in this current campaign.

After incredible 2022/23 campaign, Newcastle were qualified for Champions League football for the first time in 20 years. However, they’re currently sitting in 6th position, nine points apart from league leaders Tottenham Hotspur.

However, Eddie Howe discussed the fact that he’ll be without some his key players on Saturday as both Sven Botman and Alexander Isak will be missing out. Speaking on pre-match press-conference, the manager said :-

“That’s what our season will be until Christmas – it’s a busy period for us.

“A lot of games but we’re looking forward to them. For this game, I don’t expect anyone that wasn’t available for Wolves before to be available now. The majority are longer-term for us unfortunately, but that’s the position we’re in.

“It’ll be a very similar squad to last time. [Sven] Botman is unclear at the moment, so we’re going day-by-day with that one at the moment. Alex [Isak] we hope will be back after the international break.

“Nick [Pope] is fine and Fabian [Schar] was just a little under the weather, hence why he didn’t travel. We’ll see today [if he’s ready for the weekend].

“We’re juggling minutes a lot at the moment. We’re trying to be very competitive and compete in every game but make sure that the players are fit enough to be able to give their best when they step onto the pitch. I think in this next game, it’ll be a bit of a juggling act for us but I know we have the players that can be flexible and play different positions – we’ll make sure to utilise that.”
