Newcastle United made an approach to buy Raphinha


Newcastle United have made an approach to buy Brazilian winger Raphinha from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.

Raphinha joined Barcelona from Leeds United last summer for around £58 million. He subbed both Arsenal and Chelsea last summer and went to Spain. Newcastle also inquired about the Brazilian in the January transfer window.

His first season at Camp Nou has not been very successful, scoring seven goals and provided six assists in 31 apperances so far. Barcelona might offload him in the summer.

Previously shone for Leeds United in the Premier League, Raphinha will be looking forward to return to England ahead of the summer. Barcelona is looking to sell two-three first team player to clear some funds. Club hierarchy is looking to improve their financial situation.

Raphinha has failed to prove himself at Camp Nou this season. The Brazilian is one of the player Barcelona will look to offload in the summer. This has again caught attention of Chelsea, Newcastle United and Arsenal.

According to Spanish Outlet, Newcastle have made an approach to buy him in the summer. Sunday edition of the paper stated the Magpies are willing to offer a contract to Raphinha, which exceeds the £12m he currently earns at Barcelona.

Blaugrana are willing to listen to offers around £80m. Newcastle is hope to open negotiations immediately to sign him in the summer.

Barca is looking for funds to sign Lionel Messi and Raphinha could be a ‘essential’ sale. But Champions League football is sure to be a deciding factor to the player.
