Gavaskar to Axar Patel says ‘Next time don’t miss out’

tennis player

Axar Patel has contributed with the bat more than as a bowler. Even in the final and fourth test match, in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, Axar Patel did well with Virat. He scored 79 facing 113 balls in this match. Virat and Axar played for a partnership of 162 runs in the first innings. This partnership helped India to get Lead by 91 runs.

Sunil Gavaskar to Axar Patel said

“Agli baar century miss mat karyega. Kyunki 100 kay itne mauke aate nahi jaldi, toh jab aata hain toh chodiye mat. (Next time don’t miss out on the century. There are very few times when you reach close to a ton and when you do grab the opportunity),”

Sunil Gavaskar advised Axar during the host broadcaster. To this Axar Patel replied with

 ‘Thank you, sir.’

Axar Patel as a bowler didn’t do much work for the Indian side but grabbed all the opportunity when it came. He is the second-leading run scorer for the Indian team in this test series. Axar averages 88 with the bat in this series. He took 3 wickets only.

Rohit Sharma on Axar said

“Ashwin and Jadeja have both bowled really well, so I have to continue to make them bowl them as much as possible. If you have three spinners, you know that the third spinner is always under-bowled. It’s been Axar Patel in these two Test matches. You never know who the guy will be in the next two Test matches. If guys are getting wickets from both sides, you’ve got to continue to bowl them. That’s how it is. You can’t really do too much.”
