Nicolas Pepe is still stuck in Arsenal as options run low

Pepe

As Nicolas Pepe will most likely not be seeing play for Arsenal ever again, the player is still considering the options he has left.

The player did not see the pitch for over a year, as the manager Mikel Arteta banished him from training. In fact, this had been a repeating pattern in most of the Arsenal players leaving in the summer transfer window.

Indeed, Nuno Tavares, Rob Holding, and Folarin Balogun went though the exile experience before finding a new club this summer.

“We didn’t have space for him now in the squad to give him the minutes that he needs”, responded Mikel Arteta when asked about Balogun’s transfer, commenting similarly for others.

But unlike the others, Pepe is still part of the club, and may spend an entire year without playing. The player still has another 12 months left on his contract and will not be able to leave, at least before January 2024.

Pepe has to leave Arsenal and play elsewhere, it’s the only option left now

Nicolas Pepe had a few options before, options which he now lost access to, leaving the him in a limbo.

The 28-year old had the chance to permanently join the French club Nice, scoring 8 goals for them in 28 games. He returned to the Gunners, where he briefly attracted the attention of Türkiye’s Besiktas. However later, the club lost interest in Pepe. The Saudi club Al Shabab also made an attempt to acquire Pepe in the summer, but Arsenal rejected the offer and kept him.

And now the player’s career is at risk if he does not find a way to change the ongoing stagnation. Sadly, the only way possible at the moment seems to be terminating his Arsenal contract and becoming a free agent.
