One last dance for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United

Having signed a new contract as Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had extended his faith and stay till 2024. However, after the 5-0 humiliation against Liverpool, the club bosses have now reconsidered Ole for the position.

With him already being in the mixer, the Liverpool hammering was enough to trigger the owners of the club. The board called for a meeting on Monday to discuss Ole’s future at the Old Trafford. There is also a particular concern among a section of the Manchester United squad about the role of assistant coach, Kieran McKenna.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is likely to get a chance to rectify Man Utd’s dismal form. He will be in charge against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday. With possibly two more games to prove himself, this is really the Norwegian’s eleventh hour.

How Ole Gunnar Solskjaer exit can benefit Manchester United

Ole’s side have managed to secure only one point from their last four Premier League games. While the Norwegian is under tremendous pressure, the club is being linked with high-profile managers Antonio Conte and Zinedine Zidane.

While Zizou is ready to take the job, Conte seems to be the favourite for the position. The former Inter Milan manager, led them to the Serie A title and has previously masterminded Chelsea‘s Premier League success in 2017. The 52-yrs-old manager seems to have full confidence believing that he can win the Champions League at Man Utd.

With the current situation, Antonio Conte’s short term winning attitude can make Man Utd ‘title contenders’ once again.

Players at the Old Trafford want Ole out

Amidst their poor performance, many players namely Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba have questioned Ole’s tactics. Ronaldo is the one who recommended Zidane to the club.

Meanwhile, against Atalanta, Fernandes lined up as the no.10 in a 4-2-3-1 formation but argued he should drop into a deeper role to get on the ball. This is how Pogba expressed himself over the issue:

As for now, Man Utd will face Spurs, Atalanta and Manchester City in the coming 2-3 weeks. The Red Devils will finally find out whether they should stick to Ole or get in a new coach.
