Rohit Sharma did not play the first ODI against Australia due to family commitments. Hardik Pandya is the captain of the Indian Team for only the first ODI. And in the second and third ODI, he will be the vice-captain of the squad. Rohit Sharma will lead the squad. Ishan Kishan will also just open the batting in the first One-Day International. Sanjay Manjrekar shares his memories of Arun Lal to compare things now and then. He says some things never change how they look like.

Sanjay Manjrekar on Ishan Kishan

“Both are openers with double hundreds. And one of them will be dropped and will be replaced by another double centurion (Rohit Sharma). Ishan Kishan reminds me of Arun Lal, because in those days, whenever Sunil Gavaskar couldn’t open the Indian innings for any reason. Arun Lal would’ve been sent as an opener and he would fight it out there. Then, in the next match, Gavaskar would come and he would take his spot,”

Arun Lal played for India in between the years of 1982 to 1989. He played 16 test matches and 13 ODI matches in his career for India. He had a great domestic career where he scored more than 10,000 runs. Arun has played for Delhi and Bengal in the domestics. He played around 156 first class matches and scored 10,421 runs.

Rohit Sharma is made the Indian Captain after Virat Kohli sacked off the role over a phone call. A couple of disappointment happened in Rohit’s captaincy also.
