Arsenal can again sign a Manchester City star, Joao Cancelo. He is currently out on loan and is playing for the Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich.

Joao Cancelo: A Manchester City star

The versatile full-back joined City back in 2019 costing around 60 million. He played a big in City’s dominance in the Premier League. He also played a big part in helping them win two league titles.

The 28-year-old full back can play as a right back as well as a left back. He was one of the best full-backs for City.

Current Premier League Standings

In the 2021-22 season, on 19th December, he marked his 100th appearance for City and decorated it with a goal and an assist to his name.

However, things have changed as of now. After a sudden drop in the game time he used to get, Guardiola allowed him to join Bayern Munich on loan in January.

Cancelo’s loan spell isn’t going as per the plan and it looks like he will return to City in the summer.

Do Arsenal really need him?

Arsenal are having a tremendous season and are at the top of the Premier League table. They are certainly the favourites to win the title this season.

The Invincibles are currently having Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu playing in the right back position for them.

On the other side, they have Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney currently playing for them.

All the players are playing exceptionally well and are enough options for Mikel Arteta.

However, if Tierney leaves Arsenal in the coming summer then might look at Cancelo.

Conclusion

As per the current reports, Bayern Munich may not pursue him at the end of the loan deal and even City might want to get rid of him.

If he becomes available in the market, he can attract many suitors. He might also fit well into Arteta’s system of play.

Hence, it will be very exciting to see what happens to Cancelo at the end of this season.
