Pablo Mari set to join Monza in a permanent move

Pablo Mari is set to join Monza in a permanent after the Italian club secured their Seria-A survival, as per Footbal Insider.

Monza activated an option in 29-year-old’s loan deal worth £4.4 million. Mari was Mikel Arteta’s first signing after arriving at the Emirates as manager in 2019.

Arsenal will look to offload number of senior players in the summer and Pablo Mari will began the Exodus. He will be Gunners’ first piece of summer business.

All the paperwork for the transfer are in place, terms are settled and the deal should be completed soon. Mari will join the Italian outfit permanently before the start of new season.

The North-London Club initially signed Mari on a loan deal in 2020. But the defender joined Gunners permanently later that year on a £6.8 million transfer fee.

Mari made just 22 apperances across all competitions for Arsenal. However, he then went out on loan to Udinese last season.

Mari’s contract with the Gunners will expire in 2024. Hence, he can discuss pre-contract agreement with other clubs.

Meanwhile, Monza are now ready to sign him on a permanent deal. Mari helped them stave off the threat of relegation this season.

Mari has made 29 apperances for Monza across all competitions, contributing only one goal this term. According to FBref, the Italian outfit is paying him a weekly wage of just over £88,000-a-week.

The Former FA Cup winner even wore the captain’s armband for the Italian Club despite his short tenure with the club.
