Chelsea are looking to sign Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro. Pedro Porro is being considered as an alternative for Reece James. Chelsea are looking to sign a new right-back as a competition for Reece James. According to reports, Graham Potter is impressed with the Spanish player. Furthermore, Chelsea is interested in signing the player this January transfer window. Porro has a release clause of €45m for him to be signed by other clubs. He had joined Sporting Lisbon on a loan deal from Manchester City. He then joined Sporting on a permanent deal for £7m. Pedro Porro rose in the game and now has turned into one of the exciting young players. However, Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the player. Spurs have already contacted Sporting in regard to this matter.
Chelsea interested in Pedro Porro as their right-back option
Chelsea are looking to sign competition for Reece James. Furthermore, Porro has emerged as a potential signing. Reports now suggest that Tottenham are also interested in the player. Fabrizio Romano have commented on the matter, and have said that Spurs are indeed leading the race to sign the player. He said,
“For Pedro Porro, Tottenham are the club leading the race. For Chelsea, we have many links, but at the moment I’m told that the club who are actively working to sign Pedro Porro is Tottenham.”
Reece James is without a doubt one of the best full-backs in recent times. But Chelsea are lacking in team depth this season. With him being injured, Cesar Azpilicueta is the only option Potter is left with. Signing Porro would be exciting news for Chelsea fans. As the club would be signing an exciting 23-year-old young player.
Along with signing a young player, Chelsea would also be able to land a blow on their London rivals. With Tottenham desperate to sign Pedro Porro, his signing for their London rivals would come as a huge blow to the Spurs. Porro is a phenomenal talent, and any club would be lucky to be able have his service.
