Chelsea‘s manager Mauricio Pochettino has shown strong interest for Moises Caicedo the entire summer. He still believes that Caicedo will be the ‘perfect‘ signing for the club. Despite the big amount needed to sign the player, Chelsea and Pochettino still plan to sign Moises.
Chelsea have made multiple attempts to sign Caicedo this summer but have not been successful. Recently, Brighton rejected Chelsea’s bid of £80million for their star midfielder. Reports suggest that Brighton stand firm on their £100million valuation for Caicedo and will not let him go for less.
Pochettino and Chelsea will have to make a big sacrifice for Caicedo
Jason Burt of The Telegraph believes that Chelsea will go back with a higher offer for Caicedo. Speaking to Sky Sports, Jason said, “I think Chelsea will go back in with a big offer because Mauricio Pochettino very much wants Moises Caicedo. They are light in midfield, but it’s going to be a very, very high price that they are going to pay.”
However, Chelsea would have to a make a ‘big sacrifice‘ in their transfer plans if they decide to offer £100million for Caicedo. In that case, it is believed that Chelsea will have minimal funds left to sign other transfer targets. According to reports, Pochettino plans to sign midfield and attack reinforcements this summer, especially the midfield, where Chelsea look a little thin at this point of time.
What is the latest update?
The latest updates suggest a ‘twist‘ in the story. Earlier it was reported, that Caicedo doesn’t plan to go to Chelsea. Maybe stay with Brighton after signing a contract extension or go to some other club. However, the latest news suggest that Caicedo has now made up his mind to join Chelsea.
The entire transfer saga now completely depends on Chelsea and Pochettino. Brighton have made it clear that they wouldn’t sell Moises for less than £100million, therefore, they await Chelsea’s descision. It is expected that in the upcoming week, Chelsea will make their final descision on Moises Caicedo.
