Former Australia skipper and player, Ricky Ponting has named three Indian players who will give the Aussies quite the scare in the WTC.

As of now, both India and Australia are sweating it out in England for the World Test Championship final slated for the 7th of June.

But, Ponting has given a stern warning to Australia to be wary of the likes of Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli.

He has also stated that the Aussies will need to overcome these two batters if they want to win the mace.

The Australian team will be talking about Virat (Kohli), no doubt about it, and they’ll be talking about (Cheteshwar) Pujara. They’re the two. Pujara has been a thorn in their side a lot in the past, and in Australia, and this wicket will potentially be a lot more like an Australian pitch. They know they’ll have to get him early.

Adding further, he says,

They also know that Virat over the last few weeks is probably just about back to his absolute best, albeit in T20 cricket. He told me that the feeling he’s getting right now is that he’s almost back to his best, and that’s an ominous warning for the Australians going into a one-off game.

Ponting also praises Gill for his strokeplay and attitude

In Test cricket, both Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara have been the best batters for India. Additionally, Kohli also had a great IPL 2023.

He amassed 639 runs in 14 games and also made six half-centuries and two tons in the tournament.

On the other hand, Cheteshwar Pujara has 2033 runs with an average of 50.82 which includes five centuries.

Meanwhile, Ponting has been quite impressed with Shubman Gill’s batting this season and has also praised the latter’s class.

Therefore, he has opined that Gill’s latest shot, ‘the front-foot pull shot’ will be put to the test against Australia.

He looks like a terrific young guy. He’s got that bit of attitude about him as well. He’s got a bit of swagger. He has some serious class. That sort of front-foot pull shot that he plays against the fast bowlers will be a shot that he’ll probably need against this Australian attack.
