Premier League: Team of the Week from Game Week 8

Game Week 8 made a lot of headlines due to the results seen in each of the games which make this Team of the Week quite interesting. While come were due to brilliant team performances. Other could be due to the massive upset caused by certain teams losing their games.

There were some nail-biting finishes and brilliant comebacks. For example, the Aston Villa vs Wolves game ended in a 3-2 for Wolves. With football coming back to the Premier League following the International Friendlies. Many teams were assumed to be at quite the fitness level. It could be seen in the intensity in certain games where the matches ended to end. During each game, there was a certain player who did steal the show due to their performances. In this team, we look at those players and form a team around them. For this article, we will be using the 3-4-1-2 formation.

Defence of the Team of the Week for Game Week 8

In the Goalkeeper position, it would be Edouard Mendy from Chelsea. The Goalkeeper hasn’t stopped proving the doubters wrong this season as well. Mendy during the game made 6 saves and made two vital runs off the penalty box to clear them through balls.

In the left centre back position it would be Angelo Ogbonna from West Ham. While scoring the only goal in the game against Everton. The player made 2 successful tackles and even made an interception of a pass. The play won each of his ground duels as well. While keeping a pass accuracy of 94%.

In the central centre back position it will be Lewis Dunk from Brighton. The English Centre Back is making quite the name for himself following his performance against Norwich. During the game, he made 4 clearances, blocked 3 shots and made 2 interceptions and 2 tackles as well. While also winning 6 out of the 8 duels he was a part of.

In the right Centre back position, it will be Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea. This would mark his third time being a part of a team of the week this season. While being one of the most consistent players in the league this season. During the game against Brentford, the player made 5 tackles, 2 interceptions and blocked 2 shots.

Midfield of the Team of the week

In the left midfielder position for the team of the week of Game week 8, it would be Lucas Digne from Everton. This is the first time this season the French fullback would be a part of the team of the week. During the game against West Ham, the player made 6 tackles,2 clearances and 2 interceptions. While winning 7 ground duels during the game.

In the right midfielder position, it would be Mohammed Salah from Liverpool. He is currently the play to beat due to his sheer rate of performances this season. During the game against Watford, the player scored a goal while even providing an assist as well. While taking 3 shots on target as well as completing 3 dribbles during the game.

The first central midfielder in the team would be Pierre-Emile Hojbejerg from Tottenham Hotspur. During the game against Newcastle, the player provided an assist to help Tottenham win the game. During the game, he had a pass accuracy of 96% while providing a key pass as well.

The second central midfielder in the team of the week will be John McGinn from Aston Villa. Although the team lost 3-2 to Wolves in the dying minutes of the game. The player provided an assist as well as scored the other goal in the game. While doing so also won 8 ground duels and completed 4 tackles.

In the Central Attacking position, it would be Youri Tielemans. During the game against Manchester United, the player scored a goal while providing 3 key passes. While having a pass accuracy of 90% the player also won 5 ground duels.

Attackers of the squad for the Week

The first striker to be a part of the team of the week from Game Week 8 is Nathan Redmond from Southampton. During the game against Leeds, the player provided the only assist in the game. While doing so he took one shot on target while completing 4 successful dribbles.

The last player to be a part of the team is Bobby Firmino. While being the best player of this week due to his hat trick against Watford. The player also provided an assist to help the team secure the win.
