Presenel KImpembe has decided to stay at PSG amidst interest from Chelsea this summer. The 26-year-old will extend his contract at Parc Des Princes this summer. Chelsea have expressed their interest in signing the French defender this summer. However, it seems unlikely that they will be successful now.

KImpembe is a product of the PSG youth academy. He made his professional debut for the club in 2015. Kimpembe scored his first goal for PSG against Manchester United in a Champions League match in 2019. Moreover, Kimpembe is a regular starter for the French national team in the defense. Chelsea will do well by signing the Frenchman to alleviate their defensive woes.

Kimpembe a reliable centre back

Chelsea has had a major blow to its defense this season. The exit of two central defenders has made them seek defensive options to bolster their squad. They can’t rely on Thiago Silva alone to get them through the season this summer. The 37-year-old defender is approaching the end of his glorious career and is not as young. They have signed Kalidou Koulibaly of Napoli to bolster their defense. Now, they are in the market to sign another center-back to bolster the squad. Kimpembe was on such target for Chelsea before he signed the contract extension with PSG.

Presenel Kimpembe is a consistent and reliable center-back. He has performed consistently for the French National team as well as at PSG. He has made 151 appearances for PSG across all competitions. Chelsea could have done well by adding Kimpembe to the squad. Jules Kounde snubbed Chelsea for a move to Barcelona this summer. Now, the options for the Blues are Denzel Dumfries ,Milan Skrinar and Josko Gvardiol. Moreover, they are also interested in signing Wesley Fofana of Leicester City. However, signing either of them so late in the window is going to cost Chelsea a hefty sum of money.
