According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain have cooled their interest in Lyon star Lucas Paqueta ahead of the summer transfer window.
Lyon have placed a price tag of €70 million (£58m) on the Brazilain attacker. According to Calciomercato, PSG are unwilling to match the €70 million price tag placed on the forward by Lyon. Reports earlier this month suggested that PSG had scouted Lucas Paqueta as their top target ahead of the summer transfer window.
Lucas Paqueta joined the French outfit from AC Milan back in the summer of 2020. The Brazilain forward signed a five year deal with the club. Lyon are in no hurry to sell the in-form forward. The 24-year-old has made a total of 37 appearances across all competitions this term. In this time he has recorded nine goals and six assists. (stats via Transfermarkt)
Arsenal interested in Lucas Paqueta
According to Calciomercato, Arsenal also like and are interested in Lyon forward Lucas Paqueta. Paqueta has featured as the striker for the majority of the season. While the attacker has also featured in the attacking midfielder position.
Arsenal are on the lookout for a new young striker ahead of the summer transfer window. However, the Gunners let go of club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang on a free transfer in the January transfer window. While Alexandre Lacazette has led the line quite well in the last couple of months. But the club are prioritising singing a new young striker in the summer.
Newcastle United were keen to sign the Brazilain forward in the January transfer window. While the Premier League side offered €40 million for the forward in January. The club offered the forward upwards of £177k a week to the Brazilain forward. But the forward rejected the contract offer from the Premier League outfit. Arsenal will certainly need to match the contract offer Paqueta received from Newcastle United in January.
Reports suggest that Arsenal technical director Edu is willing to match Lyon’s asking price for the Brazilain forward. Lucas Paqueta did impress the English media when he played against West Ham United in the Europa League at the London Stadium. Football pundit Clinton Morrison talked on BBC Radio 5 Live about the game and Lucas Paqueta, he said:
“Paqueta is a big talent, and he could easily come and play in the Premier League.”
