PSG to sack Pochettino ‘imminently’ as Antonio Conte offers to replace him

Tottenham Hotspur

Mauricio Pochettino is reportedly going to be sacked by Paris Saint-Germain. He is probably going to be replaced by Antonio Conte.

Pochettino has had a sour outing in the French capital, since his appointment in January 2021. Though, PSG regained the title on Saturday evening with a dull 1-1 draw against Lens. The result was still booed by their home fans.

The Argentine has failed to win the covetous Champions League that is most prized by the PSG owners. Moreover, they failed to win the Ligue 1 last year which is said to be the minimum requirement at the Qatari-backed club. They have also failed to win any of the domestic league cups- the French Cup and the French Super Cup, this season.

According to the French paper- Le Parisien, Pochettino will be removed by PSG ‘imminently’. It is believed that the club wants him to leave and he too is open to exiting. He said in a press conference earlier,

” I have one year left on my contract, so logically it is not a question of desire but a question of contract”.

Le Parisien also claimed that Spurs boss Antonio Conte is willing to move to Paris on a two-year contract. Though, the club desires to bring Zinedine Zidane. The Frenchman, however, hopes to succeed Didier Descamps in the French national team after this year’s world cup.

Can Pochettino return to Tottenham Hotspurs?

Pocchetino is said to have remained in good contact with Tottenham chief Daniel Levy. It is very probable that Levy wants the Argentine to return to Tottenham. However, whether Pocchetino would be willing to make the comeback, remains to be seen.

It is unlikely though, that anything should happen before the end of the season. Though PSG has nothing to play for, Tottenham are still vying for the fourth spot in the Premier League.
