Is Arsenal a good fit?

Former PSV star Kenneth Perez Arsenal would be a good destination for Gakpo. Perez’s reasoning is that Arsenal is no longer a title-challenging club. This would mean lower pressure on the youngster to perform. The Gunners haven’t been on the top level for almost a decade now.

“That would be a really good club for him. This is of course no longer the Arsenal of the past and they are between fifth and tenth place. They are still not there, but you just can’t look at league standings. Last year they finished tenth (sic). If they have a good year, they will finish fourth.”

Perez’s statement is more of a compliment rather than an insult. He essentially meant since Arsenal aren’t title contenders, there wouldn’t be a lot of pressure on the youngster. He would have enough time to adapt to the new culture and playstyles under Mikel Arteta.

They used to be a top 4 club challenging for the title but have fallen off since the departure of the Legendary Arsene Wenger. Arsenal, however, is currently improving under Mikel Arteta with youngsters like Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe stepping up.

Gakpo is priced at 35m and The Gunners are expected to go all out for him in the summer.
