William Saliba appears to be a phenomenal talent but Pundit is not sure wheather he is actually going to be a top player.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s YouTube Channel, Pundit Anton Ferdinand appeared to discuss the Premier League team of the season. There is no doubt that William Saliba has been in sensational form this season.
The Frenchman was still waiting for his debut heading into this campaign. But Arteta gave him the chance this term and he has quickly established himself as one of the best in the division.
Saliba formed a superb partnership with Gabriel Magalhaes. Arsenal surely misses him after he has been sidelined with injury recently.
But Pundit Anton Ferdinand expressed some cautions because he has only played a season in the Premier League. He said :-
“Do you know what? On Saliba, I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s got next year. The only reason why I say it, I know how hard the second year is.
“First year, adrenaline, people don’t really know you, people don’t really know how you play. The respect levels aren’t really there. The second year’s always the hardest. Listen, I believe he’s got tremendous and unbelievable talent and potential. But until you see them in the second year, you don’t know whether they’re going to be tops or not in my opinion.”
Saliba does have some flaws and has made some mistakes this season. But he has adapted so well in the Premier League.
Arsenal should grow further after a unbelievable season this term. If they keep Saliba, they’ll surely be back amongst the heavyweight in the league.
