Rasmus Hojlund makes a great first impression in his first game for Manchester United, but there are still some doubts. As the player’s performance against Arsenal was undeniably good, some parties wonder if the player will maintain that engagement level.
The young man joined the match 67 minutes into the game, to replace Anthony Martial, displaying his speed and field presence. While he did not have enough time to show the full extent of his abilities, he was able to satisfy.
Man UTD lost the match as Arsenal maintained possession and eventually ended the match with a 3-1 win. Still, Hojlund would be happy with his first match, and will aim to win games for United, after returning from the international break.
And yet, as current events unfold, many fear the young man may unknowingly follow the path of other unfortunate players.
doubts regarding the future of Rasmus Hojlund with Manchester United
With the player only showing 20 minutes worth of play, it is possible that the player lacks long-term field presence. Sky News’ Paul Merson compared the player to Mykhailo Mudryk, which was a ‘strange‘ comparison despite his promising start.
“Rasmus Hojlund looked good – a right handful. But that was for 20 minutes. I saw Mykhailo Mudryk for 20 minutes at Liverpool in January and I haven’t seen him since,” stated Merson while discussing the intimidating future of Man UTD.
Moreover, the player cost the club an outstanding £72million. Said price may make him a similar case to Arsenal’s Kai Havertz, a player which cost the Gunners £65 million in transfer fees. Yet he has not delivered a performance fitting his price so far.
In the end however, these are mere speculations which may intimidate or put pressure on the player, however, fans will only hope that Hojlund thrives at United.
