Axar Patel got his spot in the Indian team as a replacement of star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja. Axar showed his class on Sunday, in the decider match against Australia at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. He turned all the spotlight towards him as he bagged 3 wickets in 4 overs, by giving 33 runs. Axar took vital wickets of Aaron Finch, Jos Inglis, and Matthew Wade. Not only that, he took his first international player of the series award this time.
Indian veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja last played in the Asia Cup where he got his injury. Thereafter he will be missing the entire T-20 World Cup as well. However, India’s former cricketer Ajay Jadeja was in all praise of Axar Patel. He believes that Axar Patel indeed has grabbed his opportunity pretty well. However, he made it clear too that India will definitely miss the Ravindra Jadeja effect in the coming tournament.
While speaking to the Cricbuzz, Ajay Jadeja said,
“Once Axar Patel had that first game, the kind of quality that he showed, it looked like he had it. He has grabbed the opportunity with both hands. We all miss Ravindra Jadeja, but nobody is missing him from the bowling point of view. Axar Patel has added to the bowling attack, he bats well, it’s only fielding where he cannot match him.”
Jadeja credits the stability of the Indian Team
Ajay Jadeja also pointed out India’s series 2-1 series victory against Australia.
Jadeja further added,
“When you look now, the stability is there, they are sure of the people that they want and sure of how they want to play. That, for me, is a very important aspect going into the World Cup. All of the question marks have been answered. The stability of the team, in terms of mindset, is the biggest positive to come out of this series.”
