Real Madrid loose to Chelsea off the pitch on a big deal.
Earlier today, Chelsea made an official announcement regarding the signing of French forward Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig, a Bundesliga team. It was reported that Chelsea had triggered Nkunku’s release clause. Which was estimated to be around £52 million, several months ago. And the club finally confirmed his arrival today.

Nkunku had an exceptional 2022/23 season in the Bundesliga. Scoring 23 goals and becoming the top scorer in the German top flight. As a result, he garnered significant attention from various clubs. Including Real Madrid, one of the renowned teams in Spain. According to reports from Jorge C Picon, Nkunku had been among the preferred options at Real Madrid as they sought to strengthen their frontline for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign.

Real Madrid and Chelsea involved in a epic battle for strengthening their attack

Real Madrid missed out on the opportunity to sign Christopher Nkunku as Chelsea acted swiftly to secure his signature earlier this year. As confirmed by the recent announcement. Nkunku’s versatility to play in various positions across the frontline. Coupled with his impressive goal-scoring record in recent seasons. Would have made him a valuable addition to Real Madrid’s attacking options, especially with the departures of Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio this summer.

However, Real Madrid had no chance to sign the 25-year-old as Chelsea moved quickly to finalize the deal. Instead, Real Madrid opted to reinforce their center-forward position by acquiring Joselu from RCD Espanyol. While also bringing back Brahim Diaz after his three-year loan spell at AC Milan.

Real Madrid is keeping a close eye on the situation of Kylian Mbappe, the superstar from Paris Saint-Germain. They may consider making a move for him if he decides to leave the French club during this year’s transfer window.
