Real Madrid might let Marco Asensio leave next season

Marco Asensio‘s future at Real Madrid is up for speculation amidst interest from Premier League and Serie A clubs. According to Calciomercato, “a host of clubs” want to sign the Spanish international. Juventus has had a long-time interest in the player. Moreover, he has refused to sign a contract extension with Real Madrid. This means there is a real chance that we could see Asensio playing for I Bianconeri.

Asensio has failed to cement his place in the starting eleven for Real Madrid. He has had good performances for Spain but is yet to translate it into good performances for Real Madrid. Asensio’s contract with Real Madrid expires at the end of this season. An extension of his duration of stay with Real Madrid seems less and less likely. As such, many clubs have expressed an interest in signing the player this season. Tottenham, Arsenal, and Liverpool are some of the clubs in the Premier League who want to sign the player. Los Blancos will let the player leave if any club activates his £34 million release clause, which is expected to drop further.

Barcelona wants to sign the Real Madrid star

According to multiple reports, Marcos Asensio has signed a preliminary four-year contract with arch-rivals Barcelona. However, the player has denied the possibility of joining Barcelona. He said:

Many friends have told me about the news that Barca want to sign me. I’ve received about 200 messages. There are a lot of rumors and a lot of things we don’t know.

Asensio has had 239 appearances for Real Madrid across all competitions. He has had 50 goals and 24 assists and has won three Champions League with the club. However, minutes are hard to come by currently because of the quality available in the squad.
