La Liga Champions Real Madrid have set their eyes on Tottenham Hotspur striker Son Heung-min as a target for transfer. The club is looking to bolster their attacking options following the departure of Isco and Gareth Bale. Moreover, they are looking to put the Mbappe fiasco behind them.
Real Madrid tried to prise away Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain this year. The Frenchman took his time and eventually snubbed areal Madrid after promises of joining them. Mbappe signed a three year contract extension with a £110 million ($137 million) signing bonus and £20 million ($25 million) of annual net salary. This deal is reportedly, twice as much as what Real Madrid was offering.
Real Madrid are lining up a move for the 29 year old as they look to move on form Mbappe snub
Now Real Madrid are trying to bounce back from the fiasco. They are trying to bolster their attacking unit with players of quality and finesse. Son Heung-min is one such player, with an abundance of finesse and a plethora of qualities as a player.
Son enjoyed a wonderful 2021-22 campaign with Tottenham Hotspurs. He scored 23 goals in the Premier League and was the joint top scorer in the Premier League along with Mo Salah. He was the joint winner of the Golden Boot award along with Mo Salah.
Heung Min Son- An inspiring and impressive player
The most impressive thing about Son’s feat was that none of the goals came from penalties. All of them were scored from open play. This is an extremely unique feat in Premier League.
The South Korean player was instrumental in Tottenham finishing fourth in the League and qualifying for European football.
Son is an integral player for Tottenham. They have proved this by extending his contract. Son has had his contract extended till June 2025. Now, it is unclear how much Los Blancos are willing to pay to lure the Korean national away from White Hart Lane. However, it is unlikely that Son is going to join them after the season he just had with Hotspurs.
Madrid looking for reinforcements however, Son is unlikely to join them
Real Madrid could do with some reinforcements in their attack. Gareth Bale and Isco have left the club as free agents. And rumours of Asensio going to one of the clubs between Liverpool or AC Milan grow stronger everyday.
Karim Benzema has had a stellar year with Los Blancos last year. It was his best-ever year with the team. He scored 44 goals and had 15 assists for the club across all competitions. However expecting another stellar year from the 34-year-old striker seems too prudent at this point. Son could be a great boost to Real Madrid’s attack. However, it seems unlikely that he will go to Madrid seeing that he feels at “home” at White Hart Lane.
