‘Really special’…John Obi Mikel is gushing about the 23-year-old striker Chelsea is hoping to sign.

Chelsea legend John Obi Mikel has been speaking about Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface after inviting him onto his podcast.

With 10 goals in 16 league games this season, Victor Boniface of Bayer Leverkusen has been in excellent form. In addition, he has managed to record seven assists. The 23-year-old has consequently been connected to a move to Chelsea; the Daily Mirror reported in November that the Blues might give him a look this month in place of Brentford’s Ivan Toney. Given that the Nigerian had nothing but positive things to say about him on The Obi One Podcast, it is obvious that John Obi Mikel would have approved of his signing.

According to John Obi Mikel, Victor Boniface has the potential to be a very special player

Mikel is optimistic that Boniface will advance quickly through the ranks and develop into a full-fledged center forward.

The former midfielder predicted that his countryman “Boniface will become a complete striker in the next couple of years.” He is physically fit, quick, skilled with the ball, and technically sound. It is uncommon to see strikers with his size, strength, and power who are also proficient with the ball.

His assists as well, not just scoring goals, is something that will make this kid special, really, really special. I can’t wait to see what his journey will be in the next couple of years.”

Is it appropriate for Chelsea to pursue Victor?

Chelsea’s current first-choice striker, Nicolas Jackson, has scored seven goals in 19 league appearances.

Looking at Boniface s results in the Bundesliga this season, it is evident that he has talent. But this is the first year the Nigerian international has performed well in a premier league. He is also only 23 years old, making him Jackson’s elder by one year.

Though it’s a competitive market in January, Chelsea might have to take the former Union Saint-Gilloise player into consideration.
