Manchester United will look to sign two new centre backs to bolster their defence for the upcoming season. But this can also put an end to two of the most regular appearance maker for the club under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The new boss at Old Trafford got a mammoth task in his hands. He need to identify positions the team need urgently and pursue his targets in a limited budget. Moreover, they need to eye and get back to the top positions as this term they will play in Europa League.

The Dutchaman attended Man United’s match against Crystal Palace in which they suffered a defeat on the closing PL matchday. With that result, they finsihed on the 6th spot and will join Arsenal in Europa League in the upcoming season. However, the manner of defeat might worry Ten Hag and will raise multiple issues even before the start of his tenure.

In several interviews, he already addressed what a challenging task this will be for him. Hence, he started early and working in cohesion with the rest of the behind-the-scenes members of the Old Trafford outfit. In the priority list, first, they will look to resurrect their defence which leaked 57 goals in 38 games.

Ole favourites to move out?

Man United will look to go for Jurrien Timber and Pau Torres while there are plenty of other rumours too. This implies that Eric Bailly, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzabe will move further down the pecking order. As a result, they might look out for a move elsewhere.

On the other hand, Man United bought Varane from Real Madrid just last summer for £42 million. There was a real sense of excitement among the Red Devils fans after this signing. But it faded out over the season as he rarely featured throughout their recently concluded campaign. The Frenchman missed 17 games due to injury and illness.

Other than that, both Maguire and Lindelof failed to live up to the expectations and might find themselves on the bench most of the time next season, given Erik Ten Hag can sign formidable defenders.
