Chelsea skipper Reece James reveals that Thiago Silva is the man he looks for if he needs help. Players like James and other young defenders are having a good guide in the form of Silva undoubtedly. The English full-back was announced as the captain after Cesar Azpilicueta left in the summer. Though he has been out for most of the time this season due to injuries. The 23-year old only managed three appearances this season with two of them coming in the last two games against Man City and Tottenham.
Meanwhile, he was speaking to the Blues’ official club website about the captaincy and getting help from a more experienced player in the squad. He said,
“The captaincy has been great, but it was difficult when I wasn’t fit because it is hard to affect things as much when I’m not with the group all the time.
Thiago probably helps me the most whenever I’m unsure, or I feel like I need advice on something. He is nearly old enough to be my dad! So he is the person I go to.
It’s not for me to say what sort of captain I am, but I’ve enjoyed it so far. It’s an honour.”
Thiago Silva is surely an asset for players like James in the squad
The veteran Brazilian is surely the one every defender will look for support. This is one of the reasons why Chelsea should let him stay for few more seasons. Though, he will be out of contract next season and is a target for Fluminense in Brazil itself. Moreover, James is not the only one having a positive influence of the centre-back. Conor Gallagher also said something similar for Silva in the recent days.
Thiago Silva is still delivering it for the blues on the pitch. He has not missed a single game for the club this season so far. It will be a stupid decision if Chelsea let’s Silva leave this summer with a bunch of young talents looking for support from senior players.
