Reiss Nelson will sign a new contract at Arsenal – Fabrizio Romano

Arsenal have reached full agreement with winger Reiss Nelson over a new long term deal, claims Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Both the parties are discussing over a deal for a few weeks now. Initially it looked like, Nelson would leave Emirates in the summer.

But after convincing Nelson that he has a future with the Gunners, it seems the academy product will indeed be puting pen to paper.

According to Fabrizio Romano’s Twitter account, Reiss Nelson will sign a new contract. The transfer expert confirmed that the 23-year-old will sign a deal with Arsenal until 2027.

Romano also claims that Arsenal want Nelson to sign the contract as quick as possible to ward off interest from other big European clubs. Brighton, Fulham, AC Milan and Aston Villa were among the clubs interested to sign him on a free transfer.

The winger played a few games for Arsenal last term but he showed enough class to convince Arteta of his value to the club. However, manager Mikel Arteta likely to use him more frequently, especially in the Champions League.

Arsenal will look to bring some major reinforcement this summer, as Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo are on top of their list. However, Nelson will get his chance to cement his place in the team.

It will be a make or break season for Nelson this term. He now needs to upgrade his game to keep him within the squad. Meanwhile, details regarding his wages is unclear, but his salary will certainly increase.
