Newcastle United signed Kieran Trippier in the January transfer window. Kieran Trippier has been on top form since his move. Trippier even captained the side for the Premier League clash against Aston Villa. But the right-back scored from a free-kick but he was taken off injured in the second half.

Newcastle United faithful were fearful of the right-back missing even one match due to injury. Reports suggest that Kieran Trippier has fractured a bone in his foot. He looks likely to miss an undetermined number of the upcoming fixtures.

With the England international now set to miss the next few fixtures. Eddie Howe now faces a major headache issue for the right-back position ahead of the relegation battle they have to comprehend for the rest of the season.

Right-back alternatives for Eddie Howe and Newcastle United

Javier Manquillo

Javier Manquillo would be the first choice to replace Kieran Trippier in the right-back spot. The 27-year-old has made 17 appearances across all competitions this term. In this time he has recorded one goal and two assists. (stats via Transfermarkt)

But the Spanish right-back also was substituted in the Premier League win over Aston Villa due to injury. Manquillo deputized as the left-back in place of Matt Targett who was ineligible to face his parent club. Reports suggest that the right-back may have suffered an ankle ligament problem.

Emil Krafth

Krafth replaced Kieran Trippier after his injury against Aston Villa. The Sweden international will be looking to start again in the next match. Krafth has never quite cemented his place in the starting lineup since his switch to the English outfit. If Manquillo is also ruled out due to his suspected injury, Emil Krafth will likely be the first choice for Eddie Howe.

Jacob Murphy

Murphy played plenty of football as the right wing-back for former boss Steve Bruce. But this term he has only featured in 24 minutes of Premier League football. If Eddie Howe decides to go back to the five at the back system. In that case, Murphy can be brought back into the limelight and feature as the right wing-back.

Ryan Fraser

Fraser has previously featured as a wing-back. But the Scottish international is currently on a very good run of form as the right-winger. Firstly, the manager and the staff will be reluctant to pull Fraser back into defence. But if necessity arrives, Fraser could fill in the right wing-back position for his side.
