Over the last year, Rishabh Pant has become one of the most important players of the Indian men’s national team. Pant has taken a great leap and cemented his place on the squad.

This has not happened by chance. He has performed very well in all forms of the game. He is not only a batsman but he is also a good wicketkeeper for the team. With time, both his batting as well as his keeping has improved. Moreover, Pant has not missed a single match in the previous year.

Last year, the left-handed wicketkeeper made his comeback into the Test team. He played the Melbourne test and after that has continued to play without missing any game.

Meanwhile he played in England while also playing a full season of IPL this year. He has done this, despite these tough Covid protocols. Currently, he is with the Indian team for the New Zealand T20 series.

Recently, Pant was asked in an interview about the workload and how he would manage it.

“I can’t be complaining about the workload but the team management has given me offs from the next two Test matches. Hopefully, I can recover well and do well in South Africa,”

said Pant before the 3rd T20 match.

Team looking at the areas in which we can improve – Rishabh Pant

India will play a 2 Test matches against New Zealand after the conclusion of the third T20 match in Kolkata. To manage the workload of Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant, the Board has decided to give them a break.

This is due to the upcoming hectic season. To replace Pant in the Test team, Karnataka wicketkeeper-batsman KS Bharat has been called into the squad. However, it is certain that the veteran Bengal keeper Wriddhiman Saha will be behind the stumps meanwhile Bharat will be his backup.

After the test series against New Zealand, India will travel to South Africa. In South Africa, India will play a three test matches, three ODI matches and four T20 matches.

Rishabh Pant furthermore talked about how the team is planning to improve after a below-par T20 World Cup campaign. He said that everybody in the team is discussing the ways to improve. Pant also said how they are trying to improve in the middle order.

He also discussed how as a child he wanted to represent India and help India win in whatever situation it might be. Moreover, Pant said he is ready to do everything for the team and does not mind if he is given the finishing job.

If we talk about workload management, it has really become a big issue for the players. In recent times with the growth of the sport more and more matches are being played. The busy schedule does not give players enough time to recover both mentally and physically.

Moreover, with the arrival of the pandemic, this has become harder. Nowadays, players are transferred from one bubble to another. Thus, the workload is a thing that should be taken care of.
