Emmanuel Petit have criticized Arsenal defender Rob Holding. Furthermore Petit have even labeled Rob Holding of being “too soft” for a defender. The player stepped in for William Saliba who sustained an injury in the match against Sporting Lisbon. The match against Lisbon saw the Gunners being knocked out of the Europa League. Furthermore Saliba had to be even withdraw from French national team during the international break. The Arsenal fans are keeping their fingers crossed for him to return to the squad soon. In the absence of William Saliba, Rob Holding played the full 90 minutes in the match against Crystal Palace. He helped the Gunners side to win 4-1 at the Emirates stadium. Furthermore Holding was considered to have done well, given to his just 6 minutes Premier League appearance prior to the match.

Rob Holding criticized by Emmanuel Petit

Rob Holding did fairly well in the match against Crystal Palace. However former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit doesn’t seem much impressed with the player. Petit have even branded Holding as being “too soft” for a defender. Petit claimed, “Rob Holding, I am not a big fan of him, to be honest. I think he is too soft, as a defender. It’s such as shame also to see [Takehiro] Tomiyasu injured. I would have preferred to have played with Ben White as a central defender.” Tomiyasu sustained an injury in the match against Sporting Lisbon as well. Therefore he was unable to fill-in for the right-back position on Sunday. This furthermore prevented Ben White to revert back to his usual left-back position in the pitch. Tomiyasu have been ruled out of play for the rest of the season.

This is not the first time that Petit have criticized an Arsenal player this season. Earlier this month he was even seen criticizing former Chelsea player Jorginho. Petit revealed that he was not a big fan of the Italian either. Many Arsenal fans agree with Petit’s opinion on Rob Holding. They even believe that this should be the player’s last season with the Gunners. However the Gunners will have to make do with him as of now. As both Saliba and Tomiyasu are injured at the moment for Arsenal.
